Movie Genl Info: Total Recall is an upcoming 2012 American science fiction action film, based on the 1966 short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick. Unlike the original 1990 film, the plot of this new version lacks a trip to Mars and contains strong political overtones. In addition, the film also blends Western and Eastern influences together, due to the fact that the two nation states, New Shanghai and Euroamerica, are battling for political power. It is directed by Len Wiseman, written by Mark Bomback, James Vanderbilt, and Kurt Wimmer, starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho, and Bill Nighy. It was first announced in 2009. It is scheduled to be released in the United States and Canada on August 3, 2012 and in Australia on the 6th of September, 2012.

Movie Plot Summary:
A factory worker, Douglas Quaid, begins to suspect that he is a spy after visiting Rekall - a company that provides its clients with implanted fake memories of a life they would like to have led - goes wrong and he finds himself on the run.



Storyline:
For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid, even though he's got a beautiful wife who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man as he finds himself on the run from the police.

LONDON: Chinese teenage wonder Ye Shiwen ignored the doping controversy surrounding her to claim her second gold medal of the Olympics with victory in the 200m medley on Tuesday.

Sixteen-year-old Ye, whose explosive win in the 400m medley in world record time last Saturday drew thinly veiled allegations of drug use, sealed the medley double with victory in 2m 07.57sec, a new Olympic record.

World champion Ye pulled away in the closing stages to beat home Australian Alicia Coutts and American Caitlin Leverenz.

She lit up the Olympics on Saturday after slicing five seconds off her personal best and taking more than a second off the world record to win gold in the 400m individual medley.

Ye's stunning last 50 metres was faster than men's champion Ryan Lochte, a fact that has been seized upon by sceptics who point to the litany of drug scandals which dogged Chinese swimming through the 1990s.

Olympic swimming greats have lined up in support of besieged Chinese star after John Leonard, executive director of the World Swimming Coaches' Association, raised his suspicions about the authenticity of her swims.

Former swimmers and top officials lined up to voice support for Ye, noting she had never failed a drug test and therefore should be regarded as a "clean" athlete.

Former British swimmer Adrian Moorhouse, a gold medallist in the 100m breaststroke in the 1988 Seoul Games, said given China's vast population of 1.3 billion and the country's state-backed elite sports programmes, it was possible the country's swimming system had simply unearthed a phenomenon.

"There are a lot of people in China. The base of their pyramid is so wide -- if they train thousands and thousands and thousands of kids they might have just found their Michael Phelps," Moorhouse said.

"They might have found this really talented kid who can work really hard, whose got the perfect shape and can cope with all the pressure that's thrown at her," he added.

Phelps coach Bob Bowman became the latest to voice support for Ye, describing attacks on her as "unfair."

"I think it is a natural cynicism that results from the history, the long history, of what has happened with China in this sport," Bowman told the Daily Telegraph.

"Having said that I think it is unfair to immediately just jump on someone who has had an extraordinary swim because it is something that happens.

LONDON: The South Korean fencer who staged a tearful, hour-long sit-in protest over Olympic judging will receive a consolation medal recognising her sportsmanship, the sport's world body said Tuesday.

The International Fencing Federation (FIE) said Shin A-Lam would be given a special medal for her "aspiration to win and respect for the rules" out of respect for her feelings.

"Of course, we understand the frustration and feelings of the athlete. That's why we decided to give this award," a spokeswoman told AFP.

In amazing scenes Shin, sobbing and shaking her head, refused to leave the piste for more than an hour after Monday's epee semi-final defeat to Germany's Britta Heidemann.

The two had been locked at 5-5 inside the extra minute period. The German then scored the winning hit, but the Korean coach claimed the assault came after the last second on the clock was up.

However, South Korea's appeals failed and Shin was eventually persuaded to leave the piste. Shortly afterwards, she lost the bronze-medal match against China's Sun Hujie.

Park Yong-Sung, president of South Korea's National Olympic Committee, said the FIE offered the medal after acknowledging a possible problem with timekeeping at the event.

But the fencing body said Shin's defeat was entirely legitimate.

"The decision was according to the rules and FIE regulations, and it was clear," the spokeswoman said.

LONDON: Eight players involved in a match-fixing scandal at the Olympic badminton tournament have been disqualified from the Games, a senior source with knowledge of the case told AFP on Wednesday.

The eight players -- four from South Korea, two from Indonesia and two from China -- were disqualified following a disciplinary hearing of the Badminton World Federation, the source told AFP.

"They have been disqualified from the Olympics," said the source.

The eight are China's Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli, South Korea's Ha Jung-Eun and Kim Min-Jung as well as Jung Kyung-Eun and Kim Ha-Na as well as Indonesian pair Meiliana Jauhari and Greysia Polii.

All eight had been charged with "not using one's best efforts to win a match" and "conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport".

Angry spectators jeered and booed the players on Tuesday after they appeared to deliberately serve into the net, or hit the shuttlecock long or wide.

They were allegedly attempting to manipulate the final standings in the first-round group stage, with pairs who had already qualified apparently wanting to lose to secure a favourable draw in the next round.

I’ll admit it when I first saw the trailer for ‘The Vow’ and I saw Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams frolicking around I thought ‘I’m definitely going to be seeing that’. So, I did and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I loved it… all of its sadness and joy… all-in-all it was a great film. I can too, however, tell you that it’s nothing like the book.





‘The real Vow’ is the story of Kim and Krickett, who found love in the strangest of ways and took it very seriously. It’s a story of how they found Christ then found themselves, and the history of how their 4 month marriage survived a car wreck through their ever-loving faith. Kim and Krickett had just been married and were on their way to visit the family for thanksgiving when they were in a terrible car wreck on the way. Kim and Krickett were both injured, and came out alive. Krickett however survived with brain damage that altered her memory, which made her have no recollection of her marriage, her husband, or the last couple months of her life.



The movie version is a bit different, but just as good in so many ways. Movie version is the story of Leo and Paige who are two young adults trying to make it in the big city of Chicago. Leo and Paige had been married for 5 years when they went out to the movies one snowy night, and got hit by a truck. Paige (Rachel McAdams) has memory loss and forgets that she’s married, forgets that she’s an artist, and forgets all of her family drama. Going back to being a sweater vest wearing, uptight, law school student, still in love with her ex- fiancé Jeremy (Scott Speedman). Forcing her Hubby (Channing Tatum) to win back her love.

The movie is a tear jerker and I loved it… but please do me a favor and read the book. I love it for so many other reasons. The book and the movie are both equally amazing in their own ways, but this is one of those books that you have to read you can’t just see the movie to get the story because you won’t. You will get a story, but it’s not the real story of the vow.









Oh! And… I almost forgot! There’s a butt shot of Channing Tatum… that alone, is worth the $0.00
